[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] KG Mobility is going to establish a lineup of electric vehicles of various classes such as semi-medium, medium, and large by 2026.

The newly launched KG Mobility (formerly Ssangyong Motor), which changed its mission in March this year, held a press conference at KG Tower in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul on the 21st and unveiled its "future development strategy."

KG Mobility Chairman Kwak Jae-sun, who marks the first anniversary of his inauguration, stressed that "all members intend to create a new company with a completely new determination."

At the heart of the presentation is the strategy of electrification. KG's first electric vehicle, a new pickup truck electric car based on the mid-sized sport utility vehicle (SUV) Torres EVX’, will also be introduced next year. In 2025, the company decided to release the semi-medium electric SUV 'KR10', known as the Korando, and the large electric SUV 'F100' in 2026.

KG Mobility posted surpluses in both the first and second quarters of this year. The half-year surplus is the first in seven years since the first half of 2016.

In addition, Edison Motors, an electric bus company, has decided to expand its commercial electric vehicle lineup by producing a 9m electric bus in addition to the existing 11m electric bus.

Furthermore, the battery pack factory will be operated next year. It plans to build a battery pack plant on an idle site at its Changwon plant in South Gyeongsang Province, which manufactures engines for internal smoke pipes, and start operation by the end of 2024.
