[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Kimchi refrigerator brand Winia went bankrupt with a maturity of KRW 220 million.

Dayou Winia Group's electronics affiliates are expected to suffer from worsening financial difficulties and hurt the group's overall creditworthiness.

Winia announced on the 18th that a maturity note worth 220 million won was presented to Hana Bank, but it went bankrupt because it was unable to extend and repay debts due to the Seoul Rehabilitation Court's decision on the preservation of property and a comprehensive prohibition order. Winia announced a total of three bankruptcies this month alone, following 3.6 billion won on the 6th and 310 million won on the 17th.

Winia is famous for its kimchi refrigerator brand Dimchae. The company, which had set a cumulative sales record of 10 million units by launching Dimchae, the originator of kimchi refrigerators, in 1995, recently fell into financial difficulties as it pushed back wages for its employees due to the worsening real estate market and a slump in the home appliance market. Dayou Winia Group, the parent company, wants to push for the sale of Winia, but it is said that Winia's appeal is gradually falling in the market.
