[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] Police conducted a raid on the office and vehicles of singer Psy’s (48, real name Park Jae-sang) agency, P Nation, over allegations that he had managers and others collect controlled substances on his behalf.
According to industry sources on December 11, the Seoul Seodaemun Police carried out the search on December 4 to secure evidence related to Psy's alleged violations.
P Nation stated, “We have fully cooperated with authorities and will continue to take necessary actions in accordance with legal procedures.”
Psy is accused of receiving prescriptions for controlled substances, including Xanax and Stilnox, from a Seoul university hospital without in-person consultations from 2022 until recently, and having managers or other third parties collect the medications for him. Both drugs are used to treat sleep disorders, anxiety, and depression, and carry a high risk of dependence, requiring in-person consultations for prescriptions.
The police have also listed the prescribing university hospital professor as a suspect in the investigation.
Psy’s side maintains that he has been taking the medication following a diagnosis of chronic sleep disorder and that no proxy prescription occurred.
The case adds to growing controversies in the entertainment industry, as broadcaster Park Na-rae is facing allegations of illegal medical procedures and proxy prescriptions, while actor Jo Jin-woong’s past juvenile offenses continue to draw public scrutiny.
