[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Minyoung] The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) has decided to launch an audit into the Korea Football Association (KFA) following the controversy surrounding the appointment of Hong Myung-bo as the head coach of the South Korean national football team.
On the 19th, an MCST official stated, "The audit was confirmed from the moment Vice Minister Jang Mi-ran mentioned it to reporters." Vice Minister Jang had previously discussed the issue with Choo Kyung-ho, the floor leader of the People Power Party, during a visit to the National Assembly and then spoke with the press.
In response, a KFA representative said, "We have not yet been contacted by the MCST. However, we will cooperate fully if a request for an investigation is made."
The audit aims to ensure transparency and address any public doubts regarding the management and decision-making processes within the KFA, particularly concerning the selection of the national team's head coach.
