[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Samsung Electronics has filed a lawsuit against the Competition Commission of India (CCI) in the High Court of India, accusing the regulator of illegally detaining its employees and unlawfully seizing data during an antitrust investigation.

According to Reuters and other sources on the 12th, Samsung's Indian subsidiary submitted a petition to the High Court in Chandigarh, northern India, on the 11th, claiming that the CCI committed these illegal actions while investigating allegations of antitrust violations against the company.

Samsung Electronics stated, "The search was clearly illegal, and the materials collected during this process are unreliable and must be returned immediately." The company further emphasized that "CCI should not use data and information collected unlawfully."

In August, the CCI concluded that Samsung Electronics, Xiaomi, Vivo, and other smartphone manufacturers operating in India had violated antitrust laws by allegedly colluding with e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart to supply products exclusively to them.

In addition to Samsung, other companies have also filed lawsuits against the CCI in various High Courts across India.

In response, the CCI has accused Samsung and other firms of attempting to obstruct the investigation by filing similar lawsuits in High Courts nationwide. The CCI has requested the Supreme Court to consolidate and hear all these cases together.
