[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] A worker from a subcontractor was killed after being crushed by a fallen electrical panel during expansion work at a substation facility at Doosan Enerbility’s Changwon plant.
According to the company on the 28th, the accident occurred at around 6 a.m. while the worker, identified as a man in his 50s, was stacking electrical panels at the site. He received emergency treatment from on-site medical staff and was transported to a hospital but later died.
Authorities, including the Ministry of Employment and Labor and police, have ordered a suspension of operations at the site and launched an investigation into the exact cause of the accident, including potential violations of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act. Compliance with safety protocols during the panel stacking process is expected to be a key focus of the probe.
Doosan Enerbility expressed condolences to the victim and the bereaved family, stating it will fully cooperate with authorities and thoroughly determine the cause of the incident. The company also pledged to implement measures to prevent recurrence and take follow-up actions based on the investigation results.
