[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Santa Clara, California – October 8 (local time) — NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang said that his family’s U.S. immigration “would have been impossible” under President Donald Trump’s proposed immigration policy, which requires employers to pay a $100,000 fee for each H-1B visa application.

Speaking on CNBC’s Squawk Box, Huang reflected on his own experience as an immigrant from Taiwan, saying, “We simply couldn’t have afforded it. Immigration is the foundation of the American Dream — the belief that anyone can build a better future through effort and talent.” He added that NVIDIA would continue covering H-1B costs for employees while urging policymakers to preserve “room for serendipity.”

Huang also commented on AMD’s recent multi-billion-dollar partnership with OpenAI, calling it “clever and surprising,” while distinguishing NVIDIA’s own investment structure, which allows it to directly supply AI chips to OpenAI.

Highlighting the ongoing AI boom, Huang said computing demand has surged sharply in the past six months, driven by the rise of reasoning-based AI models. He also stressed that data centers must develop independent energy infrastructure — from natural gas to nuclear — to meet growing global AI power needs.
