[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] A scheduled meeting between labor and management at Samsung Biologics was canceled on May 6, as the company’s union continues its compliance-focused protest campaign.
The Samsung Biologics chapter of the Samsung Group Mega-Enterprise Labor Union stated that the planned one-on-one meeting was called off following notification from management. The union explained that the company expressed regret after portions of a May 5 phone conversation with an HR executive were posted on an anonymous online platform.
Management also voiced its position, stating that it regretted the union’s unilateral disclosure of the conversation and its recording.
While the one-on-one meeting between the two sides did not take place, a tripartite meeting involving labor, management, and the Ministry of Employment and Labor, scheduled for May 8, is expected to proceed as planned.
