[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] The Bank of Korea announced on the 27th that it will expand and reorganize its organization dedicated to digital currency (CBDC) as part of its reorganization in the first half of this year.
In June last year, the Bank of Korea decided to finalize the "Bank of Korea Management Personnel Innovation Plan" and implement detailed measures through this reorganization.
In order to promote the CBDC project and upgrade technology research, the Bank of Korea changed the name of the Electronic Finance Department in the Financial Settlement Bureau to the 'Digital Currency Research Department' and expanded and reorganized it into an organization dedicated to promoting the CBDC project.
In detail, the "digital currency analysis analysis team" also expanded to a team-level "digital currency analysis team" to reflect the expansion of cooperative work with overseas central banks, such as participating in projects to improve payment services between countries using CBDC.
Considering the expansion of the scope of research, such as the development of additional CBDC systems for institutions and the implementation of payment service functions between countries, the 'Technology Class' was organized into 'Digital Currency Technology Teams 1 and 2'.
