[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] NCsoft, which has started to target Western countries such as North America and Europe, has established a new corporation in the United States.
According to the game industry on the 22nd, NCsoft recently established 'NC America (LLC)' for the purpose of developing its intellectual property (IP) business in North America. The capital is 6.5 billion won and the investment was completed on the 23rd of last month.
NC America's LLC was headed by Chief Publishing Officer (CPO) Kim Taek-hun. Taekhun Kim, CPO is the representative brother of Taekjin Kim. He joined NCsoft in 2009 and built publishing capabilities in the Japanese branch. Since the late 2010s, he has successfully led the Lineage IP Mobile Project and is currently in charge of NCsoft publishing strategies. Since 2020, he has been the CEO of entertainment subsidiary Clep.
The background of NCsoft's establishment of a new corporation in the U.S. is interpreted as a direct service of its launch title to the North American and European markets.
In fact, unlike Lineage M and Lineage 2M, Lineage W, which was launched in 12 countries including South Korea, Taiwan, Japan and Southeast Asia in November 2021, is directly published by NCsoft as a global one build.
This year, as the company is making full-fledged inroads into the North American European market with a wider variety of new works, it is interpreted that the company has set up a new corporation in the U.S., a forward base, to strengthen its business structure for publications.
Meanwhile, last month, NCsoft signed an TL global publishing contract with Amazon Games.
