[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] More than 40 construction companies have been caught illegally subcontracting companies that do not register for construction or are unqualified.

Land, Infrastructure and Transport Minister Won Hee-ryong visited the Daejeon Regional Construction Management Administration today (12th) to check the status of intensive crackdowns on illegal subcontracts and discuss ways to root out illegal subcontracts with related agencies.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is conducting an unexpected crackdown on 508 suspected illegal subcontracting sites from the 23rd of last month to the end of August.

After inspecting 77 sites over the past 20 days, 33 sites have detected 58 illegal subcontracts and have begun administrative and criminal charges against 42 construction companies.

Among the types of detection, 72.4% of the cases were those who did not register the construction industry or subcontracted to companies that did not qualify for the construction type.

One construction company was caught winning orders for the construction of a complex cultural center and entrusting unregistered construction companies with unlisted construction and metal construction, respectively.

A construction company that received a subcontract for a new research institute was caught re-subcontracting painting work to another company without the owner's permission.
