[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] According to the ICT industry on the 28th, Mirae Asset Securities and SK Telecom will sign a business agreement to form the 'Next Finance Initiative' on the 30th.
The Next Finance Initiative is a consultative body created by the two companies to issue Security Tokens.
Security Token is a securities issued using distributed ledger technology such as blockchain. Various tangible and intangible assets such as real estate, art, intellectual property rights, copyright, and unlisted stocks can be divided into Security Tokens and bought and sold.
For example, if a Security Token is issued with a 200,000 stake in a building worth 2 billion won, the investor can buy part of the ownership of the building with 10,000 won.
The Financial Services Commission will announce its plan to revitalize token securities last month and submit revisions to the Electronic Securities Act and the Capital Market Act in the first half of this year. If the amendment passes the National Assembly, token securities will be issued and distributed as early as next year.
Hana Financial Management Research Institute predicted that the domestic Security Token market capitalization will increase from 34 trillion won in 2024 to 367 trillion won in 2030.
