[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] Hotel Shilla President & CEO Lee Boo-jin’s son has drawn widespread attention after reportedly missing only one question on Korea’s highly challenging 2026 College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT), often described as a “hard exam year.”
According to a social media post by Park Sun-young, a member of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, Lee’s son—currently a senior at Whimoon High School—has consistently excelled academically, previously ranking first in his class during middle school. Korean media reports also noted that he attended elementary, middle, and high school entirely in Korea, despite many affluent families choosing overseas education.
Park added that the student is expected to continue his higher education in Korea, with several outlets reporting that he hopes to enter Seoul National University’s Business School.
Public reactions online highlighted admiration for the family’s decision to pursue domestic education, with many commenters expressing encouragement and hoping the story renews confidence in Korea’s education system.
