[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] LX Semicon is attracting attention by supplying display drive chips (DDI) to the Apple iPhone 15 (tentative name) series, which is scheduled to be released this fall. LX Semicon supplies DDI to both LG Display and BOE, which supply organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panels to the iPhone 15.
According to the industry on the 26th, LX Semicon won an DDI for the iPhone 15 series. The iPhone 15 series will be released in a total of four models like its predecessor. Based on display, it is 6.1-inch iPhone 15, 6.6-inch 15 Plus, 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro and 6.6-inch Promax.
The amount of DDI that LX Semicon will supply to the iPhone 15 series has not been confirmed in detail.
For LX Semicon, DDI accounts for about 90% of the company's total sales. The company posted record highs of more than 2 trillion won in sales and 300 billion won in operating profit last year due to strong DDI sales. The corona special, which lasted until the first half of the year, is effective. However, demand for DDI has been on the decline since the second half of last year.
Recently, industry sources say that demand for DDIs has bottomed out and rebounded, and attention is being paid to whether the iPhone effect will affect LX Semicon.
