[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Most Kyochon Chicken outlets in Seoul have increased menu prices on food delivery platforms such as Baedal Minjok and Coupang Eats, according to industry sources on the 29th.

Franchisees in the Seoul area raised the prices of popular items such as Honey Combo and Red Combo by KRW 2,000 on September 19. As a result, ordering Honey Combo via delivery apps now costs KRW 25,000, up from the previous KRW 23,000.

The Kyochon Chicken Franchisee Council reported that more than 90% of franchisees in Seoul have applied the price increase.

This follows Kyochon’s earlier adjustment on September 11, when the company reduced the portion size of its boneless chicken menu from 700g to 500g, mixing chicken breast with chicken thigh meat instead of using only thigh meat—effectively raising prices.

Franchisees in Seoul are said to have informed Kyochon headquarters of the change in advance, citing rising delivery platform commission fees as the main reason for the increase.

Notably, prices at offline stores and on the Kyochon-exclusive mobile app remain unchanged.

While the headquarters of Kyochon F&B sets recommended retail prices and encourages franchisees to adhere to them, it cannot legally enforce pricing under the Fair Transactions in Franchise Business Act.

Kyochon F&B stated that it has maintained its recommended prices, while acknowledging that Seoul-based franchisees independently adjusted sales prices due to the growing burden of delivery fees.
