It has decided to indefinitely postpone the change in the mileage redemption system, which was scheduled for April 1 this year.
On the 22nd, Korean Air said in a customer notice on its website that it will suspend the new mileage system to be implemented from April 1 (as of the date of issuance) and maintain the existing mileage deduction method.
Korean Air announced the implementation of a new mileage system change plan at the end of last year and decided to deduct mileage, which was deducted for each region, according to the "flight distance."
Korean Air said, "It is expected to take a considerable amount of time to come up with a new mileage system, so we plan to maintain the current system as it is until then," adding, "We will closely review the overall mileage system, including mileage accumulation, changes in deduction standards, and the introduction of new excellent members, so that there will be no consumer complaints."
Apart from the review of the implementation of the change in the mileage system, Korean Air will expand the supply of seats for bonus tickets so that customers can use mileage more smoothly. It is expected to increase the portion of bonus tickets from about 5% of the existing total seats to around 10%.
