[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Chung Sang-hyuk (photo), vice president of the management planning and fund market group, has been appointed as a candidate for the new Shinhan Bank president.
Shinhan Financial Group said it held a meeting of its subsidiary management committee and an extraordinary board of directors on the 8th and recommended Chung as a candidate for Shinhan Bank president.
Born in 1964, Chung graduated from Deokwon Elementary School in Daegu and the Department of International Economics at Seoul National University and joined Shinhan Bank in 1990. After serving as the personnel department of the headquarters, he served as the head of the Samsung Dongji branch and the head of the Yeoksam Station Financial Center. Chung is known as a close aide to former president Jin Ok-dong, who was named the next chairman of Shinhan Financial Group. He has worked as former president Jin's chief of staff in 2019.
Chung will be appointed as the new president after a meeting with Shinhan Bank's executive candidate recommendation committee and shareholders' meeting in about a week.
