[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] As Hyundai Motor Group is expressing its intention to acquire a semiconductor fabless foundry company, related fabless companies such as Dongwoon Ana Tech are drawing attention as they are expected.
According to the industry on the 12th, Hyundai Mobis will hire a planner to promote 'M&A and JV establishment' with an experienced person who will be in charge of 'mass production project'.
Hyundai Motor Group is known to have set up an internalization policy that is produced inside the company while separating the semiconductor sector into two.
Especially, internalization strategies are being expanded to mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and joint ventures (JV). This can be interpreted as focusing on bringing external capabilities inside at the group level beyond the level of technical alliances. Unlike Hyundai Motor Group's investment in Boss Semiconductor, a vehicle semiconductor startup last year, it is analyzed that it will try active M&A.
Hyundai Mobis recently picked 'introduction of external capabilities such as mergers and acquisitions and the establishment of a joint venture' as its performance duties while hiring experienced people who will be in charge of planning at its semiconductor division.
It is also expected to review mergers and acquisitions and the establishment of joint ventures for companies that can produce system semiconductors such as MCU and PMIC.
