[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] It has been confirmed that Kakao, which has been criticized for data center fires and subsequent service failures, introduced and built thousands of Huawei's "x86 servers" disguised as "X-Fusion" for the first time in the first half of last year. Currently, the owner of Xfusion is the government of Henan Province, China.
It is heard that Huawei and X-Fusion products account for 10% of the servers that Kakao built by renting SK C&C data center space in Pangyo, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do. Supermicro products, which had been under controversy over Chinese servers Inspur and spy chips, also account for a majority of Kakao data center servers.
Superfusion, which was Huawei's server division, has changed its name to X-Fusion since November 2021 and has been selling the existing x86 server product line that Huawei developed and released in the past. Fusion server has the same product name. It is a different company from IT company Xfusion in the United States. China's X-fusion office is located in Shenzhen, where Huawei's headquarters are located, and most of its key executives and employees have also moved from Huawei.
Peter Liang, CEO of XFusion Global, has worked for Huawei for more than 17 years. Chin Jin-bong (English name Frankchin), CEO of XFusion Europe, also worked as a manager at Huawei. Ho Geom-cheong, the Korean representative, also worked for Huawei.
