On the 23rd, the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) under the Financial Services Commission has decided that it will not be involved in the merger and acquisition between Gofax and Binance according to the legal scope, but if the business plan is changed, it will order the submission of a virtual asset business change report.
Gopax, a virtual asset exchange, appointed Leon Xing Pung, CEO of Binance Asia-Pacific, as its new CEO on the 21st. It is said that only the official announcement remains in the process of completing Binance's acquisition of Gopax operator Stirimi.
A senior official from the Financial Services Commission said, "Under the Special Fund Act, the scope of the change report is not wide and it is necessary to confirm whether it is Binance's simple equity investment or business restructuring," adding, "If we push for business restructuring, we will review whether the existing Gopax's FIU report is valid."
