[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Lotte Engineering & Construction (Lotte E&C) announced on the 26th that it has taken legal action against individuals responsible for circulating false bankruptcy rumors about the company.
Rumors spread rapidly across social media alleging that “a major construction company, well-known by name, is about to enter court receivership,” and warning of a potential “second Legoland crisis.” The speculation quickly escalated as posts claimed that the company in question was Lotte E&C.
In response, Lotte E&C filed a criminal complaint against both the original creator of the rumor and those who further distributed it, citing credit defamation.
“This rumor is completely baseless and constitutes a serious act of damaging Lotte E&C’s creditworthiness,” the company stated. “We will respond firmly to any future dissemination of false information.”
