[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Dongwon Group, the only buyer of McDonald's Korea, which has been in the process of selling for the second time since 2016, has given up the acquisition. The food industry is predicting that it will not be easy for McDonald's to find a new owner.
Dongwon Industrial announced on the 27th, "We considered acquiring McDonald's Korea, but decided not to proceed." It has been about three months since I participated in the McDonald's preliminary bid in January.
However, there was a wide gap between the two companies over the sale price and operation method. Although there were differences over the sale price of McDonald's offer of 500 billion won, industry analysts say that the bigger reason for the breakdown was that it had to follow the strict operational guidelines of its global headquarters after the takeover.
