[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Since CJ Logistics joined CJ Group in 2013, it has achieved three times sales and six times operating profit growth over the past 10 years.
According to CJ Logistics on the 1st, sales have more than tripled from 3.7 trillion won in 2013 to 12.1 trillion won last year since the launch of CJ Group's integrated corporation. Operating profit jumped six times from 64.1 billion won to 411.8 billion won. Both sales and operating profit hit new highs every year for 10 years.
CJ Logistics, the nation's No. 1 logistics company, was acquired by Kumho Asiana Group under court receivership during Korea Express in 2008 but changed its major shareholder to CJ Group at the end of 2011. Later, in April 2013, it merged with GLS, a logistics subsidiary of CJ Group, to complete its current appearance.
The business structure has also changed. The contract logistics (CL) sector, which was its flagship business, accounted for half of its total sales in 2013, but fell below 25% last year. Instead, sales in the global sector rose from 28 percent to 42 percent. The annual delivery volume, which was 500 million boxes in 2013, jumped to 1.7 billion boxes last year, and the number of employees increased from 8,400 to 20,000.
