[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] Samsung Medison, a medical device subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, has secured supply agreements with two of the most prominent healthcare institutions in the United States, marking a key turning point in its North American expansion.
According to industry sources on June 7, Samsung Medison recently signed contracts to supply premium ultrasound diagnostic systems to both Cleveland Clinic and Mayo Clinic.
Under the agreement, Samsung Medison will provide its premium radiology-focused ultrasound system, the R20, to regional hospitals under the Cleveland Clinic network. Meanwhile, the company will supply its HERA Z20 premium ultrasound system, designed for obstetrics and gynecology, to the maternal-fetal medicine division of Mayo Clinic.
The deals are considered highly significant as they mark Samsung’s entry into the supply chains of major U.S. hospitals. Cleveland Clinic consistently ranks among the top hospitals in the United States and operates an extensive network of affiliated institutions. Mayo Clinic is also widely recognized as one of the world’s leading medical centers.
Industry observers expect that these high-profile references will play a crucial role in helping Samsung Medison secure additional contracts with other U.S. university hospitals and regional healthcare networks.
Samsung Medison has been accelerating its North American expansion, with its regional revenue steadily increasing from 16.4 billion won in 2023 to 27.3 billion won in 2024, and 27.7 billion won last year.
