[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] According to Alpha Biz coverage on the 1st, Samsung Electronics stopped mass production of its healthcare wearable robot EX1 (GEMS Hip), which was scheduled to be officially released in August.

It is said that the official name of the wearable robot product, which has been discontinued in mass production, was "Bot fit."

A Samsung employee who is familiar with the matter told Alpha Biz, "The subcontractors scheduled for mass production around July and August notified us that they would not only retrieve wearable robot samples but also cancel their plans for mass production." He added, "Other manufacturers "I understand that it is still undecided."

In this regard, Samsung Electronics said, "We have never mass-produced Botfit."

Joo-ho Yoon, CEO of Umbrella Research, told Alpha Biz, “Samsung Electronics’ explanation that it has never mass-produced because it withdrew its mass production plan just before mass production may not be false. However, its strategy for the launch of wearable robots, which were likely to be launched within the year, is very difficult.” “It is an incident that means a lot has changed,” he analyzed.

"Samsung Electronics' robot business team is working to launch a product called GEMS Hip (EX1) by the end of this year," Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Han Jong-hee said at Samsung Electronics' Bespoke Life Media Day event held in March this year.

At the Korea Electronics Show in October, Han Jong-hee, vice chairman, said, "Please look forward to it," when asked by reporters about robot products set to be released by the end of this year.

Samsung Electronics explained, “We have not confirmed a specific release date for Bot fit,” and “We are conducting repeated tests for the product to be released flawlessly.”
