[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Hyundai Motor and Kia's cumulative combined operating profit exceeded KRW 20 trillion.
Hyundai Motor and Kia exceeded 20 trillion won in cumulative operating profit in the third quarter of this year (January to September). The annual cumulative value is expected to easily exceed 25 trillion won.
According to Hyundai Motor Group on the 30th, Hyundai Motor and Kia's combined sales for the January-September period of this year are 196.5113 trillion won. It increased by 17.4% from 167.3987 trillion won in the same period last year. Sales by company are 121.31 trillion won (16.4% ↑) for Hyundai Motor and 75.48 trillion won (19.1% ↑) for Kia.
Operating profit totaled 20.7945 trillion won with 11.6524 trillion won (80.4% ↑) for Hyundai Motor and 9.1421 trillion won (98.4% ↑) for Kia, up 87.9% from 11.693 trillion won last year.
Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Motors Corp. are using all-time highs in both sales and operating profit. This year is the first time that operating profit has exceeded KRW 20 trillion in nine months.
The combined operating profit ratio also improved by 4% and recorded double digits (10.6%). By company, Hyundai Motor recorded 9.6% and Kia 12.1%. It increased by 3.4%p and 4.8%p, respectively, from a year ago.
The majority of overseas sales are in the United States. In the United States alone, 50,661 units were sold, the highest ever.
