[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] On the 21st, the labor union of Hyundai Motors held a ceremony for this year's wage and collective agreement at the main building of the Ulsan plant and entered into full-scale negotiations.

According to the industry on the 16th, the union plans to request that the honorary employee certificate (lifetime employee certificate), which was given to long-term retirees with 25 or more years of service, be expanded to all retirees this year.

If you receive an honorary employee card, you can purchase a new car at a discount of up to 25% (20% eco-friendly car) every two years even after retirement. If you pay in full cash, you will receive an additional 3% discount.

However, if you retire without completing 25 years of service, you will not be able to receive an honorary employee ID, so you will not receive a discount. In response, the union is demanding that all retired workers be allowed to receive honorary employee IDs.

At the same time, the union also asked to raise the discount rate for new cars, which will be applied when honorary employee ID holders buy electric vehicles such as Ioniq 5 and hydrogen cars such as Nexo, from the previous 20% to 25%.

In addition, the government will ask for a new reward plan that provides benefits such as 48.75g of gold for long-term service for 40 years, seven days for vacation, and 150% of ordinary pay for vacation. It plans to ask for souvenirs worth between 5 million won and 8 million won depending on the long-term service years from 10 to 40 years.
