[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Minyoung] Carcinogens were detected in accessories sold on Chinese e-commerce platforms such as Ali Express and Temu. Some products also found carcinogens 700 times higher than the domestic safety standard.

The Incheon Headquarters Customs Office said on the 7th that after analyzing the ingredients of accessories sold on China's e-commerce platform, 96 out of 404 products were found to have carcinogens exceeding domestic safety standards. This is about 24% of the total product. The carcinogens are cadmium, lead, etc.

By product, carcinogens were found in 47 earrings (36.7%), 23 rings (31.5%), and 8 anklets (20.0%). Carcinogens were also detected in hairpins, necklaces and bracelets. By platform, 48 products (26.7%) were sold by Ali Express and 48 products (21.4%) were available at Temu.

Cadmium and lead from these products were at least 10 times higher than domestic safety standards, up to 700 times higher. Cadmium is a first-class carcinogen and is known to cause Itai-itai disease in Japan.

The Incheon Customs Office plans to strengthen management and supervision of products containing carcinogens in consultation with related ministries.
