[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] About 80 percent of electric vehicles subsidized by the U.S. this year use Korean batteries, a report showed. This is an increase of 14 species in seven months compared to April (17 species).

Some models that use products from Chinese battery makers were also included. However, analysts say that electric vehicles using battery parts procured by overseas concerned companies (FEOC) are not a matter of concern as they will not receive tax deductions starting next year according to the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).

According to the battery industry on the 28th, 31 of the 40 electric vehicles subsidized by the United States will be equipped with LG Energy Solutions, SK On and Samsung SDI batteries. The U.S. government currently subsidizes up to $7,500 (about 9.8 million won) to U.S. consumers who purchase electric vehicles that meet the conditions under the IRA Reduction Act.

LG Energy Solutions supplies batteries to 22 types of electric vehicles, the largest number. It will also supply batteries to Chrysler Pacifica, Ford's Mustang Mach-E (Expanded, Standard), E-Transit and Lincoln Airlines, including all GM Cadillacs and Chevrolet models. Tesla Model 3 basic, long range, performance, and eight Volkswagen models are also equipped with LG Energy Solution batteries.

SK ON supplies batteries to 10 electric vehicles, including Ford F-150 Lightning (Extended, Standard) and Volkswagen's eight models. Volkswagen has been found to receive batteries from both LG Energy Solutions and SK On.

Samsung SDI supplies batteries to seven types of Audi Q5 plug-in hybrid quattro, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Wrangler, Ford Escape, Lincoln and Rivian R1S and R1T. Audi Q5 models were newly included in the subsidy list on the 12th of this month.

Considering that there were 17 models under the same conditions in April this year, the number has increased by more than 82%.
