[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Emro (058970), a company specializing in artificial intelligence-based supply chain management (SCM) software (SW), recorded the highest sales in the first half of the year, but its operating profit fell 5.9% due to increased research and development costs.

Emro announced on the 28th that its cumulative sales in the first half of 2023 on a consolidated basis rose 2.7% year-on-year to 29.3 billion won. This is the highest performance ever in the first half of the year. It continued to grow steadily at a time when the global economy continued to deteriorate and companies were reducing their investment in information technology (IT) infrastructure.

In detail, fees for software licenses and cloud services rose 14.6% and 17.5% from the first half of last year to 4.43 billion won and 2.21 billion won, respectively. This is due to a steady increase in the number of companies introducing SCM SW and AI SW. Royalty fees for SW licenses also rose 2.8% year-on-year to about 4.9 billion won.

On the other hand, operating profit rose 5.9 percent on-year to 2.27 billion won, up from a year earlier. In addition, it recorded a net loss of 136.2 billion won due to the valuation loss of derivatives of about 19.8 billion won.

Emro, which has secured a number of new customers in areas such as defense, solar, semiconductor materials, pharmaceutical and bio in the first half of this year, has an order balance of 46.8 billion won as of the end of June this year, up 9.1% from a year earlier.
