[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] As Samsung Electronics (005930) gave up its first annual operating profit in 14 years, the prospect that Hyundai Motor (005380) will secure the position for the first time in history is gaining momentum. While the overall number of 1 trillion clubs decreased by 10% from last year due to the global high interest rate trend, SK Hynix (000660) and HMM (011200), which were the top operating profit, are expected to leave one after another.

According to financial information provider FnGuide on the 8th, Hyundai Motor is expected to generate the largest annual operating profit this year among all KOSPI and KOSDAQ-listed companies estimated by more than three securities companies. Securities firms forecast that Hyundai Motor will earn 15.3723 trillion won this year, up 54.5% from last year. Hyundai Motor has already maintained its overwhelming leading position with a cumulative operating profit of 11.6524 trillion won until the third quarter of this year. It will be the first time in history if Hyundai Motor becomes the No. 1 listed company in operating profit by performing well in the fourth quarter as expected by securities firms. Hyundai Motor had never been the biggest listed company before and after the full introduction of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in 2011. Last year, Hyundai Motor was the third-largest listed company in operating profit after Samsung Electronics and HMM.

The second-largest listed company in annual operating profit expected by securities firms was also analyzed as Kia Motors (000270), the same Hyundai Motor Group. Kia's average annual operating profit for this year is 12.1136 trillion won. This is an increase of 67.4% compared to the previous year. Kia has accumulated operating profit of 9.1421 trillion won by the third quarter. Kia ranked fifth in operating profit last year.
