Hyundai BNG Steel Changwon Plant Accident Kills 2 Employees

[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Two employees were crushed by iron plates at Hyundai Motor Group's steel company Hyundai BNG Steel's Changwon plant on the 18th, killing one person and injuring another.

At around 2:57 p.m. on this day, a fatal accident occurred when facilities weighing hundreds of ㎏ hit two people while checking and repairing rolling facilities at the Hyundai BNG Steel Changwon plant in Seongsan-gu, Changwon-si, Gyeongsangnam-do.

The number of permanent workers in Hyundai BNG Steel is about 480.

The Busan Employment and Labor Office is investigating the cause of the accident by applying the Serious Accident Punishment Act.

The police launched an investigation to see if the company official worked according to the regulations and if the casualties were properly equipped with safety equipment.

Two accidents occurred at the Hyundai BNG Steel Changwon plant last year, killing two people.

In September last year, an employee of a partner company who was inspecting a ceiling crane died after being caught between a crane and a pillar of a factory building. In October of the same year, an employee of a partner company was killed by an 11-ton (t) iron coil.
