[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Samsung Electronics, which is speeding up its robot business, is on the verge of commercializing walking-assisted robots. Expectations in related industries are growing rapidly by the end of this year. Samsung Electronics has been applying for and registering the patent since the second half of last year and is also focusing on preoccupying robot technology.

According to the industry on the 27th, Samsung Electronics' DX (device experience) division is in the process of verifying its products to launch the walking-assisted robot EX1 (Gemship) within the year. Han Jong-hee, head of Samsung Electronics' DX division (vice chairman), said in March, "We will take robots as another growth engine and we are taking a step forward." Samsung Electronics upgraded its existing robot commercialization task force (TF) to a 'robot business team' and bought its stake in Rainbow Robotics, a robot company, twice this year, expanding its stake (14.99%).

The walking aid robot prepared by Samsung is a senior care device or an exercise aid that helps people who have difficulty walking. In releasing related patented technologies, Samsung Electronics said, "As the aging society deepens, more people are complaining of pain and inconvenience due to joint problems, and interest in exercise aids that assist the elderly and patients who are uncomfortable with walking is increasing as the background of product development."

Samsung Electronics first introduced a wearable robot at the Consumer Electronics Show 2019 in Las Vegas, USA in 2019. In April last year, it received final approval for the performance of 'GEMS-H', a robot that assists hip activity in the physical medicine division of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and has been preparing for full-scale mass production.
