Six retired public officials from the National Police Agency joined Coupang this year alone.

[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Many retired public officials recruited by retail giant Coupang this year are former police officers.

According to the industry on the 4th, six retired public officials have been employed in Coupang this year, including Coupang Eats Service. They include three from the National Police Agency, one from the prosecutor's office, one from the Board of Audit and Inspection, and one from the National Security Office.

A case in point is Lee Hye-eun, a former senior prosecutor who was in charge of investigation and public information at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office. Former senior prosecutor Lee went to work as executive director of Coupang's management office in September. He was commissioned as a prosecutor at the Goyang branch of the Uijeongbu District Prosecutors' Office in 2004 and served as a prosecutor at the Ministry of Justice's National Litigation Department, a deputy chief prosecutor at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, and a criminal chief at the Pyeongtaek branch of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office.

Three people from the National Police Agency joined Coupang this year. Everyone works at Coupang as a manager. In addition, one from the Board of Audit and Inspection moved to Coupang, while one from the National Security Office moved to Coupang Eats Service.

Coupang has begun recruiting retired officials in earnest since 2021. In 2021, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and the Korea Customs Service joined Coupang as executive directors and team leaders, respectively. In 2022, five people from the National Police Agency, the Presidential Secretariat, the Fair Trade Commission and the Public Procurement Service entered Coupang. At that time, the largest number of people were from the National Police Agency.
