[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] Woori Bank announced on August 17 that its U.S. subsidiary, Woori America Bank, has opened its first branch in Austin, Texas, marking an expansion into the U.S. South.

The new branch will provide financial services such as account opening, remittances, and loans to support Korean companies entering the region, helping them establish operations more smoothly. Leveraging its professional network in accounting, tax, and legal services, the branch will also assist with local corporate setups. In addition, it will offer financial services to local residents and members of the Korean community.

Austin, the capital of Texas, is home to more than 15,000 Korean residents. Samsung Austin Semiconductor entered the city over 30 years ago, and Samsung Electronics is currently building a large-scale plant in nearby Taylor. Texas is recognized as a hub for advanced industries, including semiconductors, robotics, big data, and artificial intelligence (AI).
