[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Shin Ik-hyun, head of the C4ISTAR business division (vice president), has been appointed as the new president of LIG Nex1.

LIG Nex1 announced on the 13th that it has appointed Shin as president.

Shin will serve as president from Jan. 1 next year and become CEO after a board meeting and a shareholders' meeting in March next year. Kim Ji-chan, who led LIG Nex1 for the past five years, resigns as an advisor.

Shin was commissioned as the 32nd Air Force Academy in 1984 and served as an administrator at the presidential security strategy office in 2007. Three years later, he served as head of the Air Force's 8th Fighter Wing in 2010 and the head of the Power Planning Division of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in 2013 before being discharged from the military in 2015.

He joined LIG Nex1 in December 2017. Since then, he has been the head of the surveillance and reconnaissance division, C4ISTAR business division, and C4ISTAR business division.

The C4ISTAR division, where Shin was in charge, will focus on research and development of ground and ship combat systems, various radar and underwater monitoring systems, and drones. The performance is still low compared to the guided weapons that LIG Nex1 mainly sells. However, as the demand for the industry is concentrated in the business group that C4ISTAR has been doing recently, it is highly likely to grow in the future.

Given that he has been carrying out his work so far, focusing on businesses that have much room for growth, Shin is also expected to speed up efforts to find new businesses after the appointment of the president.
