[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Shin Hak-chul, vice chairman of LG Chem, will retain his position as management and continue to change and innovate. Kim Dong-myung, president of the automotive battery business division, was appointed as the new CEO of LG Energy Solutions. Kwon Young-soo, former CEO, retired for a generational change.

LG Chem and LG Energy Solutions held a board meeting on the 22nd and announced that they promoted executives in 2024.

Shin Hak-chul, vice chairman of LG Chem, maintained his position. The official term is until March 2025.

Cha Dong-seok (Chief Financial Officer), who was promoted to president at the end of last year, also continues to play a role in securing financial soundness in a difficult business environment. President Cha's term is until March next year.

LG Chem carried out a total of 17 promotions, including one executive director. In this personnel reshuffle, △ thorough business performance base △ selection of talent in the R & D field for new business and future preparation △ strengthening of global customer response and overseas business operations △ strengthened the diversity of management through the appointment of female executives (4 people).

The new head of LG Energy Solutions is Kim Dong-myung, president of the automotive battery business division. Born in 1969, he graduated from Yonsei University's Department of Metal Engineering and KAIST Master's and Ph.D. (Material Engineering). President Kim joined the Battery Research Center in 1998 and has accumulated experience in battery business as a whole, including R & D, production, product planning, and business manager.

Vice Chairman Kwon Young-soo, who led the company in the meantime, retired for a generational change. It is heard that as the company has successfully established the company's base by investing in overseas businesses and securing future customers, it is time for a new CEO to prepare for the company's future.
