[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] KOSDAQ market capitalization hit an all-time high amid a day-to-day rise in the KOSDAQ index.
According to the Korea Exchange on the 25th, the KOSDAQ market capitalization was 454.57 trillion won. This is the highest since January 3, 1997, when the market capitalization began to be aggregated.
The KOSDAQ market capitalization hit a record high on the 21st, which broke through the ceiling again in just three days. Earlier on the 21st, the KOSDAQ market capitalization stood at 451.83 trillion won, breaking the previous record of 450.9384 trillion won set on Nov. 19, 2021.
As the top KOSDAQ stocks surged, the market capitalization is also believed to have increased. On the same day, Ecoprobm and Ecopro, the top two KOSDAQ market capitalizations, rose 14.22% and 11.37%, respectively. POSCODX, the fifth-largest KOSDAQ market capitalization, also rose 4.77% on the same day, while the sixth-ranked JYP Ent. jumped 9.38%.
"We have reached a record high since 1997 when the KOSDAQ market capitalization began," an official at the Korea Exchange said. "The KOSDAQ market capitalization reached 7.925 trillion won on Jan. 3, 1997, when the tally began, and the current market capitalization is up 6,131 percent from then."
The KOSDAQ index has been rising day after day recently. The KOSDAQ index closed at 939.96, up 1.08% from the previous day. It is the highest of the year based on the closing price. It even rose to 945.47 during the day.
It closed higher except for one day of 11 trading days from the 11th to this day. So far this year, the KOSDAQ index has risen more than 38%.
