[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] The National Assembly’s Political Affairs Committee has decided to summon SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won as a witness in connection with allegations of unfair internal transactions.
According to political sources on the 29th, the committee held a plenary session and resolved to call Chey to testify at a comprehensive audit of the non-financial sector scheduled for October 28.
Earlier this year, SK Telecom underwent a special tax audit by the National Tax Service amid allegations that it funneled hundreds of billions of won in fraudulent contracts to SK C&C (now SK AX), the group’s IT affiliate. SK C&C reportedly issued tax invoices and claimed 10% value-added tax (VAT) deductions, but the tax authority is said to have determined that some of these invoices were fabricated.
