[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Apple's latest smartphone 'iPhone 15' series is about to land in Korea.

The Korea Communications Commission (KCC) called for user caution against fraudulent sales such as false and exaggerated advertisements. Domestic sales of the iPhone 15 series will begin on the 13th.

The Korea Communications Commission said in a press release that "mobile phone fraud sales are being damaged through false and exaggerated advertisements ahead of the launch of Apple's iPhone 15." The Korea Communications Commission called for consumer caution, saying the act is taking place at some retailers so-called "sex branches."

It is pointed out that there are many cases where secret operations are carried out in such a way that "the latest smartphones can be purchased at a low price, including the iPhone 15 worth KRW 1.25 million" through Internet cafes and open chat rooms.

However, unlike this, the KCC explained that it is actually deceiving users by mistaking the "conditions of use" of selective contract discounts or credit card alliance discounts as if they were reducing the price of terminals at stores.

The Korea Communications Commission also said complaints about user fraud are increasing as the market overheats due to competition to attract subscribers ahead of the domestic launch of the iPhone 15 series. As a result, it asked the three mobile carriers (SK Telecom, KT, LG Uplus) to "refrain from illegal subsidies" and "stabilize the market." We plan to strengthen monitoring of online false and exaggerated advertisements, form an inspection team, and conduct on-site inspections.
