[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Commercialization of artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductors made by Samsung Electronics and Naver is imminent.

Semiconductors developed by both companies have shown world-class performance in super-large AI model driving tests.

According to industries on the 20th, Samsung Electronics and Naver have successfully completed the test evaluation (demo) of AI semiconductor chip solutions. The two companies signed a business agreement in December last year to jointly develop AI semiconductor solutions, which has secured commercial-level technologies in about a year.

A traditional official on the issue said, "We have run a real super-large AI model and have achieved considerable performance results." The super-large AI model used in the test evaluation is estimated to be Naver's HyperCloverX.

AI semiconductors made by Samsung Electronics and Naver are made of 'FPGA'. FPGA is a semiconductor that can be programmed according to its purpose. Unlike general semiconductors (ASICs) that cannot change circuits, circuits can be reconfigured as needed.
