[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] SK Eco Plant announced on the 13th (local time) that its subsidiary SKTES has completed a 12,000-square-meter information and communication (IT) asset disposal service (ITAD) facility in Fredericksburg, Virginia, USA, which is considered a global data center hub.

ITAD is a service that collects various IT assets from IT devices such as smartphones and laptops to data centers, destroys stored information, and then supports recycling and reuse.

Devices are repaired and resold as refurbished products, disassembled and sold as parts or materials. The ITAD facility completed this time can handle up to 600,000 individual servers per year.

The ITAD market is expected to continue to grow. Global Market Insight, a market research firm, predicts that the ITAD global market, which is worth about $14.5 billion (about 19 trillion won) in 2022, will grow 8% every year to about $31.4 billion (about 41 trillion won) in 2032.
