[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] The Fair Trade Commission has launched an investigation into allegations that global semiconductor companies have forced local dealerships to set the price of selling semiconductors and sell them at that price.

According to related industries on the 2nd, the FTC is investigating whether the US semiconductor company 'Texas Instruments (TI)' and the Dutch company 'NXP' violated the Fair Trade Act.

The Fair Trade Commission is looking into whether the companies sold semiconductors through local dealerships and committed "maintaining resale prices."

Maintaining resale prices is prohibited under the Fair Trade Act by setting wholesale and retail prices in advance and forcing wholesalers and retailers to sell products only at that price.

Apart from the case, the FTC is also investigating allegations of illegal rebates by the US medical device company 'Boston Scientific'.

It is to look into whether the hospital provided unfair economic benefits by using the support of clinical research funds.

An FTC official said, "We cannot inform you about the investigation of the case."
