SK Square's operating loss was estimated at 2.3 trillion won last year

[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] SK Square announced on the 23rd that its consolidated operating loss was estimated at 2.3397 trillion won last year. Sales were 2.2765 trillion won and net loss was 1.3148 trillion won, respectively.

SK Square is an investment company launched in November 2021 through a human division of SK Telecom. Consolidated performance is affected by portfolio companies' performance and equity method gains and losses. This year's operating loss is also attributable to sluggishness of SK Hynix and others.

On a separate basis, SK Square recorded sales of 177.6 billion won, operating profit of 94 billion won, and net loss of 314.2 billion won last year.

According to SK Square, the amount of cash inflow secured last year is about 1 trillion won. In accounting, KRW 506.5 billion in cash and cashable assets, including KRW 177.1 billion in dividend income from SK Hynix and Incross, and KRW 450 billion in the remaining stake sales of SK Shielders (uncollected amount) were reflected in the separate financial statements.

Last year, it sold its stake in SK Shielders to EQT Partners, an investment company in Sweden's Valenberry family, and recouped its investment worth 860 billion won. In addition, the company has also carried out portfolio restructuring, including the sale of Nanoentech (51.5 billion won) and the sale of some of its shares in SK Planet (35 billion won).
