HD Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering has terminated its contract to build two passenger ships worth 416.9 billion won

[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] HD Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, HD Hyundai's intermediate holding company, announced on the 13th that the contract to build two passenger ships signed with Kiwi Rail of New Zealand has been terminated.

The contract was terminated at the request of the shipper. The total contract size is 416.9 billion won.

HD Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering won a ship order in 2021.

"The two ships whose contracts have been canceled will be completed before construction, and we will proceed with detailed consultations in the future following the cancellation of the contract, including claims for design costs that have already been put in," said an official at HD Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering.
