Jeong Yong-won, CEO of KG Mobility, announces his resignation over ‘suspicion of embezzlement’

[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] KG Mobility CEO Chung Yong-won, who is under police investigation for alleged embezzlement, offered to resign.

According to industry sources, Chung conveyed his intention to step down from his post to the company on the 21st to take moral responsibility for the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's anti-corruption investigation team's search and seizure of KG Mobility's headquarters in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, on the 19th. However, CEO Jung said he would complete the ongoing work such as the development of a new car.

Chung joined Ssangyong Motor Co., the predecessor of KG Mobility, in 1990 and served as head of the management team, management manager, planning manager and planning and management headquarters. When KG Group took over Ssangyong Motor in 2022, he co-chaired it with KG Group Chairman Kwak Jae-sun.

Currently, the police are investigating four people, including CEO Chung and KG Mobility executives and employees, on charges of embezzlement.
