[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] Naver announced on the 5th that it received the Presidential Award in the Outstanding Company category at the 23rd Korea Safety Awards, hosted by the Korea Fire Agency. This award is the highest honor in the safety sector, given to companies that demonstrate leadership in safety management.

Completed in 2022, Naver’s second headquarters, 1784, became the first smart building to win the Presidential Award and the first private office building to do so. It is also the only internet platform company to receive this recognition.

Inside the 1784 building, approximately 100 service robots, known as "Rookie," are deployed to assist in emergency situations. In the event of an emergency, they automatically switch to fire mode, guiding occupants to safety. The building’s infrastructure integrates artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud systems to rapidly communicate disaster situations and support evacuation efforts. For instance, during a fire drill on Disaster Prevention Day last May, the Rookie robots relayed fire alerts through comprehensive displays, utilizing synced building data.

Since 1784’s completion, Naver has developed 21 safety manuals and guidelines, systematically enhancing space safety management. The building is equipped with over 6,000 emergency response kits, including smoke masks at every seat, and dedicated fire suppression equipment for electric vehicle fires. In July, Naver became the first private IT company to receive the Space Safety Certification from the Korea Safety Certification Institute.
