[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] The operator of the Line application, Line-Yahoo, is accelerating its efforts to sort out its relationship with Naver. Line-Yahoo announced on the 18th during its regular shareholders' meeting that it plans to complete the system separation from Naver within this year, ahead of the initial schedule.

Takeshi Idezawa, CEO of Line-Yahoo, stated during the regular shareholders' meeting held in Tokyo, Japan, that they are working to complete the separation of the Naver cloud and employee systems and authentication bases by the end of this year to enhance security measures. He added, "We initially planned to complete the separation of our company's and our subsidiaries' systems from Naver by mid-2026, but we are moving this up."

In relation to the Line app's personal information leakage incident that occurred in November last year, the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications issued administrative guidance to Line-Yahoo twice this year and demanded that a specific response plan be reported by July 1st. In response, Line-Yahoo stated that they plan to announce specific measures to strengthen security in July.

Furthermore, regarding future relations with Naver, they stated, "We are reviewing the method of business consignment and plan to terminate or reduce service development and operational consignment in the future."
