[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] The Supreme Court of South Korea has assigned Chief Justice Seo Kyung-hwan as the presiding judge for the appeal case involving SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won and Art Center Nabi Director Noh So-young.

On August 21, it was reported that the Supreme Court had allocated the case to its First Division, with Justice Seo serving as the main judge. He will be joined by Justices Noh Tae-ak, Shin Sook-hee, and Noh Kyung-pil in reviewing the case.

Justice Seo, a graduate of Seoul National University Law School, began his judicial career in 1995 at the Seoul Western District Court. He has held various positions, including Supreme Court research judge and President of the Seoul Rehabilitation Court, before being appointed as a Supreme Court Justice in July of last year.

The primary focus of the appeal will be on whether the 2nd Circuit Court's ruling on the division of assets, amounting to approximately ₩1.3808 trillion, was appropriate. Additionally, the case will consider issues related to the recognition of facts in family litigation involving former President Roh Tae-woo’s slush funds and the impact of an error in the valuation of stock from SK C&C's predecessor, Daehan Telecom, which was later corrected in the judgment.

A separate appeal related to Chey's objection to the 2nd Circuit Court's correction is still under review by the Supreme Court's Second Division, with Chief Justice Oh Kyung-mi presiding.
