[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Big Planet Entertainment reported to the Fair Trade Commission on the 4th that Kakao Entertainment charged discriminatory music distribution fees. Kakao Entertainment warned of legal action, saying it was a false claim that was different from the truth.
"While Kakao Entertainment demands around 20 percent of music distribution fees from ordinary companies, we have secured testimony related to the situation in which they charge a fee of 5 to 6 percent to related companies such as SM Entertainment," Big Planet Made said.
"It's a gap that's hard to understand in common sense," he said. "Kakao Entertainment abused its status through discriminatory acceptance." Big Planet Made includes girl group VIVIZ, singers Lee Moo-jin and Huh Gak.
"Big Planet Made is insisting on unilaterally terminating the contract based on the wrong facts," Kakao Entertainment said in a statement. "We have not provided any unfair benefits to a particular partner company."
